In more than a year...
Mood:  lazy
Now Playing: Cruxshadows, of course

 Hi Everybody!

I know it's been forever since I've blogged on this site.  Sorry.  I've been more active on MySpace, but I think I'm going to get back to this blog because anyone can get to it, without having to log in to My Space.  We'll see.

I have a second grandchild, little Joey who's adorable.  And I recently went north to visit.  I had a great time helping out my daughter-in-law when the baby was born.

I am working on a lot of crochet projects as Christmas presents this year, and am planning to sell some of my work online.  Craig's List, Amazom.com and EBay have all been suggested to me, and I'm looking into each one to see about becoming a merchant.

I will be in touch with more information about this very soon.

It's been pretty much status quo around here other than the munchkin's arrival.  I'm still working at CVS (God help me!) and still living in Georgia with Winnie and Linda (thank God.), and writing a short story here and there, though I've been really busy with the crocheting.

 Hope you all are well!

Amusing Emails from Hypocritical friends....
Mood:  mischievious
Now Playing: Cruxshadows: "Dreamcypher"
Topic: Pronounced evil!!

Okay!  I'm sleepy and punchyTongue out--and evil incarnateWink according to my friend (I think...) Gina.

She took a look at my website and decided my soul needed her 'fervent' prayers.

She forgets that I've helped her hold the door shut on the closet where her skeletons are hidden, little hypocrite.

Hmmmm....maybe I should take my evilness out for a spin and write her into one of my stories...muahahahaha.

Kindof funny...not to mention a little surreal and amusing.

Then, along comes JP's email, a greeting to all his 'disturbed' friends.  Now THAT was COOL!!  Laughing

So.....I've been pronounced evil and disturbed all in the same week.  Life is good!

Oh!  Congratulations to my friends The Cruxshadows!  Their song "Birthday" placed number one on the dance charts earlier this month, and their song "Sophia" popped back onto the charts the same week.  Way to go, Rogue, Rachel, George, Jen, Jess, and Sarah!  You rock!  Your concert at Dragon Con was amazing!  And the panels were excellent as usual too.  Great seeing you!  Thanks for the hugs!

Also, congratulations to Mikey and Maureen on their anniversary.  Hope you guys are having fun on your cruise!

Okay.  Gotta get some sleep.

Hugs,

Terri

Ritalin essay
Mood:  energetic
Now Playing: Cruxshadows 'Birthday'
Topic: Health

As you know I'm a pharmacy tech, also a mother and a grandmother.  I have long been against shoveling kids full of meds for every little hangnail, especially potentially dangerous meds.  This is an essay I wrote a few years ago.  Give it some thought:

Ritalin – What if?

You are seven years old.  You’re sitting in a classroom listening to little Maggie read, very slowly through a text that doesn’t interest you in the least.  You are not a particularly fast reader but you’re distracted.  There’s music running through your mind and all you care about is getting to a piano to play it and then writing it down for others to play.  You stare out the window and tap your foot to the beat.

Your teacher is closely watching you, because she’s called and arranged a conference with your parents to discuss your behavior in class.

Later in the day as you sit in the back of the classroom with some crayons, drawing notes, trying to get the song down in its entirety, the teacher explains gently to your parents that you rarely sit still during reading times, you fidget, you stare out the window and your attention wanders.  She recommends your parents have you tested for Attention Deficit Disorder, (ADD).  She would be very upset to see you fail, you’re a bright child.

You indeed are tested, the doctor diagnoses you with ADD, and prescribes Ritalin for you to take.  Sure enough it does the trick.  The music seems to fade away, and you return your attention to the reading test appropriate for your age, and your grades improve.  Your parents can go back to their careers without any further concern for your problem because they’re getting you the best treatment their money can buy.

But what of the music?  Will it ever return?  Your teacher hopes not, for it’s a distraction.  Your parents hope not, because they want you to receive the best education possible so that you can get a well-paying job.  They want their little Wolfgang Mozart to make a name for himself in the world of finance or politics or medicine.

Works in Process
Mood:  d'oh
Now Playing: cxs - Windbringer
Topic: Movin' n Groovin'!!

Hi Everybody!

I'm rushing to read "The Idiot's Guide to Creating a Graphic Novel" because Lysa and I are creating one.  We're using my short story "Sibling" for it, and it has to be ready for Dragon Con.

Also, I'm rewriting "Screech" as a screenplay which also has to be ready for Dragon Con.  Eeeek!  Way short on time. Surprised D'oh!

My new laptop is awesome!  My addiction for Mahjong has reared its ugly head, though.  It's been four years since I've had it on my computer.  Whew!  Huge monkey on my back!  Yell

And I've pretty much changed over to healthier eating habits.  I know, I know, boring.  But my ass was rapidly growing out of my 'fat' jeans and I was getting scared.  Plus my knees were really freaking hurting all the time, especially on work days.  So I had to do something.

Been doing 15 or less grams of fat a day and it's working.  My jeans are comfortable again.  But I'm sticking to the healthier habits.  My blood pressure is lower (it wasn't really, really high, but it was on the fringe of being high.).  Now it's normal.

Not much else going on.  Gotta get off here and get reading.  Working later.

In the meantime, love and hugs to all!
